How to save photos from your iPhone texts

Do you receive lots of photos via text? I do. Have you ever cleaned them out? There are two reasons why you might want to clean these up.

  1. there are some great photos in there that you want in your photo app so they will be easier to find, and/or

  2. you are running out of space on your phone and really don’t need to keep the meme from Aunt Marge.

You may have saved some of these photos as you received them, but today I’ll show you how to save and/or delete them in bulk.

Start by selecting the text string and click on the name at the top. I’m using myself as an example - my texts aren’t very exciting…

Next we need to get to the photos. Scroll down to the photos and click See All.

Here you can see all of the photos that I have ever texted to myself. You will see double, as photos show up both from me and to me. Normally you will only see one copy.

Select the photos that you want to keep or delete. Select the photos you want to keep first so that you don’t accidentally delete any.

After you have selected the photos you want to keep, click Save at the bottom to send them to your photo app. Then repeat the process to safely delete them from your text string.

And you are done! This is a great way to make sure that you save any photos that you want to keep - they are much easier to find in the photo app than in your texts. As discussed previously on the blog, you can search your photos even if you have not used keywords or captions. Of course, I encourage you to add captions as you save them from your texts to make the search more powerful.
