Apps I love: 1SE

There are many many photo apps out there, but one of my favorites is 1 Second Everyday. For many of us our camera roll provides documentation of our life. Where we were, what we did, and who we were with on any given day. 1SE provides a unique way to mash these photos and videos together to tell your personal story.

The idea is simple: you choose a video for each day. 1SE takes a one second (or 1.5 seconds, you choose) clip from that video. If you don’t have a video for that day, you can choose a photo or choose a photo or video from a different day to use as ”filler.” The app then stitches these together to create your own personal movie.

The app itself is super simple to use. It has a calendar, you click on a date, it shows you the photos and videos taken on that date, and you choose which one you want to use or choose from an alternate date. You can then trim the video to capture the part that you want, and you are done. It looks best if you use landscape videos - but you can see from my clip below that I always forget to do that.

Here is my video for February - I’m sharing this one with you as it was both the month I launched Arrange Wander Focus and I celebrated a big (too big) birthday.

I don’t actually go into this app on a daily basis. Instead I tend to create a month at a time. At the same time I often clean out my “dud” photos - the “why did I take three of these” photos or the reference type photos that I don’t need anymore (if you need help with that, let’s chat). I don’t always pick the best photo, instead I pick the photos that best identify what was happening on that day or around that day.

The app works on IOS and Android and is free - you can upgrade to a paid version but I have never needed the extra features.

This is a great way to look back at your year. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
